History Comes Alive with our Historical Costumes for SaleIf youre an educator, you know that engagement in the classroom is one of the most important and influential facets of education. The more you can get your students involved in the process of learning the better. When it comes to the topic of history, youre faced with the challenge of keeping your students involved and interested in topics that, on the surface, may not have relevance to the world of today. While there are many ways to capture your students imagination, one great way is to incorporate our historical costumes for sale into your lessons. Here are some fun and educational ways to bring history to life in the classroom.
If youre teaching your students about the Renaissance period, it can be hard for them to visualize what life was actually like during that period. Our historical costumes for sale bring a textured and tactile reference point of daily life during the Renaissance. Take for instance our wonderful selection of Renaissance dresses. These dresses are historically accurate replicas of the style and type of garb women wore during the Renaissance. Our historical costumes for sale not only cover different styles but different classes as well. A women from nobility or affluence would be found wearing a dress like our Lady Jane dress or Anjou gown. A lower class woman, like a peasant or maid, would wear something closer to our Country Maid skirt or Ameline Peasant dress. These two different styles of historical costumes for sale can be displayed as a unique way to show the differences between classes and the treatment of the lower class during the Renaissance.
For men, we have a wide variety of accurate historical costumes for sale. Each of these costumes represents different occupations and classes of men from the Renaissance period. Men who battle in wars might wear one of our Rogue Hunter shirt couple with protective armor like our Blackened Chain Mail coif. Noblemen or men of affluence would wear something ostentatious, like our Philip the Good doublet or Royal Court doublet. Showing the difference between warriors, commoners, and noblemen using our historical costumes for sale will not only give your students a better understanding of life during the Renaissance but also help them draw parallels between the olden days and todays world.

My garments are made just like your Granny once did, hand cut, hand styled, sitting down in front of a home sewing machine, hand pressing, individually making this garment just for you, right here in the United States. There is a big difference between our custom made articles of clothing and the cheap, imitation, garments and costumes that are coming from over seas, India, China, or Pakistan, made out of the synthetic costume fabrics, laces and trims. Due to cost, time, labor, and the quality that goes into one of my articles of clothing, I can not compete with prices of these imported, play-time costumes. The fabrics shown on Sample Dresses may not be available at the time of your order. Each garment is custom made to your specifications, you tell me how you want your garment or costume made, pricing depends on trims, styles, and make.
You are Welcome to have me make a garment from a pattern purchased from a local retail store, such as Simplicity (I have a large collection of Civil War Era, now discontinued), McCalls, Butterick, and Etc. Historical Simplicity Patterns in my Collection~ Clicking Here

Your 19th Century Garment
You will find that your 19th Century Garment is cut differently than todays garments, with a drop shoulder seam, giving a fuller, larger look and a slightly, snug feeling in the upper arm, with some of the ladies clothing. These garments are made with the authentic, historical cut, dropped shoulders, shoulder & side seams are more to the back. When the garment arrives, some folks feel uncomfortable with this cut, believing the garment does not fit correctly. If you are uncomfortable with this fit, please ask for costume/modern cut with the old look. Thank you.
Thank you for stopping by, please come back again.

For historical sale dresses
At Maggie May Clothing, we have been designing historical and historically inspired dresses for over 25 years. All of our designs are inspired by extant garments in museum collections, private collections, and in books such as Janet Arnold?s Patterns of Fashion, Peterson?s Ladies Magazine, and Nancy Bradfield?s Costume In Detail. Each design is original and was drafted exclusively by Maggie May Clothing. None of our designs have been constructed from existing patterns. Each of our historical dresses are part of a larger collection and are based on popular silhouettes from different time periods. We offer both a special order collection and a ready made collection. The garments you see pictured in our special order collection are prototypes. Special Order garments are made to order or bespoke using fabrics selected from our fabric collection.
